We specialize in algorithmic systems & tech ethics

We work with any algorithmic system, from large language models, decision support tools, to recommender systems

At Gaard & Sekara we care about how fair, robust, and representative your AI products are. Driven by our shared expertise in reducing harms and biases across a range of products from simple algorithms to complex neural networks and deep learning systems, our team will help you develop, buy, sell, and deploy AI more safely and ethically.

Services

Our services range from trainings and capacity building to hands-on auditing, data science, and development support. Use our navigation below to identify the right service for you.

Maybe you want to update executives and leadership on frameworks and requirements for AI auditing, or you want to upskill your engineers, developers, and architects on how to debias while building. We provide lectures, workshops, co-production and co-design sessions if you want to help your team manage these questions better. Perhaps you are looking to acquire and deploy AI solutions from an external supplier, and would like a third party to audit or impact assess the product? We can carry out independent risk-sweeps, reverse-engineer algorithms and models or red-team existing solutions, and we can work with you (or your supplier) to build processes for continual assessment and product-testing. Maybe you develop AI products for others and would like to provide them with extra assurance around the performance of your product (or you would like to ensure there are fewer risks to how your product performs once it is out of your hands).

Applied AI lunch talk

Partner Tess S. Skadegård Thorsen was invited to give an applied AI lunch talk at Skylab DTU on AI Ethics and social sustainability.

People who work with us say:

“Tess is one of the most outstanding leaders I’ve ever worked with.

I hired Tess to develop our ethical design and research practices at Comcast. Tess has a rare mixture of academic and business skillsets and is truly world class in her field. She added value at Comcast immediately, building a dedicated and effective team and influencing our design, research and product development processes.

She is very generous in sharing her knowledge, never talks down, and always approaches collaborations with colleagues with a view to educate and, above all, inspire.”

– Former VP of research at Comcast Patrick Cook
